, This is a bit of a cop-out because the game was almost ready to share, but I'm kicking off the monthly interactive fiction game releases with the Twine prototype of Zeitgeist 1980.
Z1980 (as I'll call it) is a choice-based game inspired by 1980s action comedy movies, specifically Every Which Way You Can and Smokey and the Bandit II. The protagonist, an 80s teen goes on a road trip transporting a mysterious cargo with his ne'er-do-well uncle. It was intended to be the first chapter in an interactive serial set in the cinematic movie 1980s covering different genres.
The "full version" was implemented in the Godot Engine using ink markup, pixel art, and commissioned music, and a slightly tweaked story. I ran a kickstarter to fund a full "season" - with a budget to freelance the art and music - but it fell 30% short of its goal and I'm too slow when it comes to the art to do it all myself.
That all said, here's the download link for the Twine prototype. It features css theming inspired by 80s-era Memphis design and a few other incidental graphics. Give it a spin, tell me what you think, and report any bugs you find. Michael
